Milton Keynes is close enough to go to London for the weekend or a day trip. Just let us know where you want to work and we'll find the school to suit your needs.
The majority of International Teachers love the UK and the travel opportunities that present themselves and the chance to meet new people. Many of the teaching skills that the UK education system use are similar around the world, so teaching can be easy.
If you answer yes to the following questions then click on register with us to find out what you need to get teaching in the UK!
1. Are you a registered teacher?
Teachers in England usually need Qualified Teacher status to take up a permanent post but do not worry; it is a European Union rule which applies to other qualifications across a range of professions, teaching being one of them. So long as you have a degree you are able to teach in England. A registered teacher, either provisionally or fully registered. (There is an exception to this, if you have a university degree and would like to teach in the UK, we may be able to put you into a classroom based training course. Unfortunately, the pay is less, until you are a qualified teacher.)
2. Do you have the right to work in the UK?
There are several ways to enable you to teach in the UK.
Visas
You must apply for a visa if they do not have British ancestry. Under the terms of a Working Holiday Visa, work must be incidental to your visit. Therefore your primary reason for coming to the UK is to travel. Any Teaching work you do can only be for half of the visas length and for the purpose of funding your travel. Work Permits are also available.
Application for a visa can be made at the British High Commission. If you travel without a visa you will be refused entry.
To check your eligibility please look on www.workgateways.com/working-uk-visas.html
Dual Nationality
If your parents were born in the UK, may be able to apply for a second passport. This gives you automatic entitlement to work in the UK. You still need to apply for this before you leave. The rules regarding this seem to change on a yearly basis, so please check with the Embassy.
You will need to send your birth certificate, your parents and/or Grandparents birth certificates and marriage certificates to the British Embassy. If the Embassy issues you an early entry, bring it with you to the UK and, on arrival show it to immigration.
With the regular changes of the rules it is worth checking if you can be granted partial access if you have parents or grandparents born in other parts of the European Union countries. Check with the British Embassy.
Are you married?
If you are married to a British national you are entitled to work in the UK. Also if you are accompanying a spouse who has dual nationality you too will be able to work in the UK.
If don't qualify for any of the above.
Unfortunately if you are unable to obtain one the visa/passports above, Supply Teaching Ltd is unable to apply for you. Work Permits can be applied for but they relate to working for a full twelve month period in a permanent position. Supply Teaching Ltd can not legally offer permanent teaching posts.
